There are two different armies each player can join. Each of them is indicated by two different colors: The Red Army and The Blue Army. The enemies are colored purple.
Each player manuevers a tank and/or a helicopter through battlefields of winding rivers, dark forests and treacherous enemy terrain. Players must destroy all the enemy tanks and helicopters in order to proceed to the next round.
When in a tank, you can fire shells at enemy tanks and missles at enemy helicopters. When in a helicopter, you can fire bullets at enemy helicopters and drop bombs on enemy tanks. You can also score points by destroying buildings, staff cars and bomber planes which appear in some rounds.
The more you fire at the enemy tanks and helicopters, the more they get damaged. The more they fire at you, the more damaged your vehicle gets. If one of your vehicles is destroyed during that round, you can switch to your other one or you can press the button to switch to whichever vehicle you think is better. The game will end if both of your vehicles are destroyed.
For each round, you will obtain a different rank. You begin with Private, followed by Corporal, Sarge (as in Sergeant), 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, full Colonel, Brigadier General, Major General, Lieutenant General, full General and, of course, General Of The Army. Each time you destroy all enemies on each round you will be promoted to a higher rank.
Each round has a time limit and every time the limit is close to being up, an enemy bugler will set up a tent and sound the alarm, so you must shoot the bugler before the alarm is sounded off. If you shoot the bugler before the alarm is sounded off, the time for that round will be extended for you to destroy the remaining enemies. If you fail to kill all the enemies you will proceed to the next round, but you will not get a promotion. If you successfully destroy all enemies in the following rounds, you will be promoted.
