Game Introduction

There are four players on the screen, with the computer playing for those that don't have human players. The game doesn't follow real volleyball rules -- the game is only to seven points, it uses rally scoring, and games are timed.

Game Play

The big secret here is to continue hitting the jump button before hitting the ball in order to power up your spikes. Winning the tour gets you an end screen with nicely rendered "trophy babes. All your serves and spikes can be aimed by holding the joystick in one direction as the ball is hit. The eight joystick positions correspond to the edges and corners of your opponent's court.

Trivia

On the opening screen it shows a picture of a flyer advertising a 2.5 million volleyball tournament. At the bottom it says, "To enter call 408-996-BALL" which apparently is a CPA office in the San Jose, CA area.

VAPS Arcade/Coin-Op V'Ball Census

There are 15,364 members of the Video Arcade Preservation Society / Vintage Arcade Preservation Society, 9,708 whom participate in our arcade census project of games owned, wanted, or for sale. Census data currently includes 167,365 machines (7,023 unique titles).

Common - There are 26 known instances of this machine owned by V'Ball collectors who are active members. Of these, 2 of them are original dedicated machines. 3 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet. 21 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Wanted - No active members have added this machine to their wish list.

This game ranks a 11 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most often seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on census ownership records.

Rarity and Popularity independently are not necessarily indications of value. [More Information]
