Game Play

You use a spinning controller to move a rolling cannon left and right atop a teeter totter, shooting at little monsters above. The teeter totter sits on a barrel of TNT, which is connected to detonators on either side of the screen. If the teeter totter falls too far to either side, the TNT explodes and you lose a life. The monsters begin dropping down towards you if they hit you, you also lose a life. If you fail to shoot them, they hook into the teeter toter, weighing it down (and increasing the chance that the TNT will explode).

Occasionally, starting at Level 2, a little flashing box appears floating on the playfield. If you shoot it, you instantly advance to the next level.

Cabinet Information

Teeter Torture is a game that has rather mysterious origins. Only a single cabinet has even been found for it (fortunately it has been making regular appearances at the California Extreme show for a number of years). For years there was even confusion as to whether it was an Exidy-produced prototype or some bootleg running on the Exidy hardware.

VAPS Arcade/Coin-Op Teeter Torture Census

There are 15,364 members of the Video Arcade Preservation Society / Vintage Arcade Preservation Society, 9,708 whom participate in our arcade census project of games owned, wanted, or for sale. Census data currently includes 167,365 machines (7,023 unique titles).

Very rare - There is one known instance of this machine owned by an active member Teeter Torture collector. It is a set of circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Wanted - There is one active VAPS member currently looking for Teeter Torture.

This game ranks a 2 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most often seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on census want list records.

Rarity and Popularity independently are not necessarily indications of value. [More Information]
