Game Play

When you begin the game, you will be given a target practice session where you will try to blast up to five asteroids as they fly by. Then, you will be aboard The Black Dragon where you will try to find and rescue crew members and colonists of Colonial Star One as well as Commander Ursula Skye while you fight your way past attacking pirates armed with laserguns. Use your lasergun to destroy an enemy before he blasts you, but try not to hit any innocent bystanders. Everytime, you get zapped or take an innocent life, energy units will be be deducted from your life-support system.

As you wander through The Black Dragon, you will sometimes find a door with a symbol that will flash red and green. Here, you must shoot it when it is green in order for the door to open. After the door is open, you will either be confronted by a pirate or advised by a colonist. Everytime a pirate appears, fire your weapon. But if a colonist appears, hold your fire.

When you have made it past a few battlefields, you will find a few colonists being held captive by The Black Brigade. In this scene, after you have killed a few pirates, one of the captives will tell you to shoot either the yellow light or the blue light to free the other captives, when you blast a few more pirates you must then shoot the specific light you were told to shoot.

After you have freed the other captives, you will head further through the ship and make your way through several more battlefields until you make it to where you will have to save a captive from being killed by a pirate by shooting that pirate. Afterwards, one of the colonists will inform that when you reach Commander Skye, you will have to shoot the light when it is blue, green or red. When you get to this part, you must shoot the specific color that you were told to in order to free Ursula. After this, you and all the colonists and crew members must escape as you continue to fight off the attacking pirates.

Following the escape, your next mission will be to explore four planets and find The Star-Splitter Cannon and the three crystals: the Aqua Blue, the Crimson Red and the Emerald Green. Before you begin this mission, you will be given instructions on which order the crystals must be placed in The Star-Splitter Cannon. After this, you will get to select which planet you want to go to.

Once you have selected a planet, you must continue to fight your way past enemies while trying not to kill any innocents. Sometimes an informant will give you advice about what you should do when you meet the character who has one of the four objects you are searching for. Once you meet with that character, you must do as you were advised like choose the correct path to avoid an ambush by The Black Brigade as well as shoot a certain possible stress point on the character or a machine in that scene to get past that character and collect The Star-Splitter Cannon or one of the three crystals.

After you get one of the objects you need, you will somtimes be given a special target practice session where you will try to shoot projectiles as they are thrown into the air or where you will attempt to shoot certain objects as soon as they appear on the screen. Once you have The Star-Splitter Cannon and all three crystals, you must assemble the weapon and place the crystals in the order you were told.

After you have completed this task, you must use The Star-Splitter Cannon to destroy The Black Dragon. During this challenge you must fire directly at The Black Dragon before it fires at you. Everytime you make a direct hit on The Black Dragon, it will be damaged. You must get about five direct hits until the ship explodes.

After you have destroyed The Black Dragon and the remaining pirates who were on it, you then must go against Captain Tallinn in a final confrontation. Here, you must blast Captain Tallinn on each of his weak spots before he blasts you. After you have destroyed Captain Tallinn, the crew and colony of Colonial Star One will thank you and propose a toast. Afterwards, the game ends.
