Game Introduction

Several levels are similar to 3-D versions of other games. For instance, there is a psychedelic mushroom stage that looks somewhat like a Centipede landscape. Faces in another level look like those from Easter Island. Graphics and game flow are similar to other Sega games of the era such as After Burner and Out Run.

Game Play

The object is to shoot as many things as you can. Avoid running or flying into enemy projectiles and stationary objects. Battle the bosses, and move onto the next level. The game ends after you beat level 18 where you have to defeat almost all of the bosses, one after another, but not in the same order as they appear throughout the game.

Cheats, Tricks, Bugs, and Easter Eggs

HINT The enemies fire three types of projectiles at the main character Energy Bullets slow, Fireballs faster, and Missiles fastest. They are always fired directly at Space Harriers current location, never elsewhere. As long as you move constantly without backtracking, you cannot be hit, and need only worry about dodging stationary objects.PBUG Extra coins provide extra lives to continue the game. On the later levels, when your character is hit, it appears at times as if all extra lives are lost. The remaining credits are not lost. They just do not display properly.
