Shamisen Brothers is a very large and elaborate Music Game involving two very detailed replica Japanese Shamisens made of wood and plastic. The goal of the game is to accurately hit the notes of traditional and popular Japanese music while using an authentic Shamisen bachi to strum, which in combination with pressure placed on the steel strings of the instrument, cause variations in the accuracy of the tone required. When the steel strings make contact with the metal plate below them, they complete a circuit and register as a successful note played. The game is extremely colorful, with anthropomorphic animals and representations of traditional Japanese art scrolling by as each set is completed. The hardware is supplemented by a CDROM setup. This model was confirmed to be on display at the Tokyo Game Show 2002, and perhaps never saw wide release.
