Relief Pitcher is a prototype game would have been released by Atari Games in 1986. This game was originally designed for the System 1 hardware, but unfortunately never went into production. In 1992, Atari reused the name "Relief Pitcher" for a JAMMA game that was released, but the gameplay and hardware were totally different than the System 1 version.
You can either play head-to-head with a competitor or against the computer. The controls are two Atari hall-effect joysticks and two action buttons. The action buttons are used for throwing, batting, and during an actual play, you use them similar to Track & Field (faster you hit them the faster your player runs.... either around the bases or in the outfield).
