The game has three different selectable modes of play: normal, digitized and two-player. In normal mode, players can choose one of five opponents who each have a different strength level that varies from beginner to expert. In the digitized and two-player games, players can have images of their own faces appear on the characters. These images are taken by having the player put his or her faces into position, following the on-screen introduction and then pressing the Select or Enter buttons (a light on the camera comes on when the digitization is taking place).
In the normal game, you assume the role of Sonic Blast Man and you try to defeat one of the five different opponents have been selected. Each opponent's strength is indicated by an Mt. rating. After "Ready" and then "Go!" are displayed, you must punch the pad as hard as you can. You get three punches per game. The strength of your punch is indicated by an Mt. rating that accumulates with each punch you throw. If the total of your three limited punches exceeds that of your opponent, you will win!
The digitized game is the same as the normal game except you get to digitally record your very own face using the game's camera. That image will appear on the screen as your opponent and you will try to punch the pad as hard as you can. As you punch the pad, your on-screen face will become deformed and the harder you punch, the more deformed the image becomes.
In a two-player game, both yourself and another person can have your faces recorded at the same time. In this mode of play, you punch the opposing player's face and then, in turn, the opposing player punches your on-screen face. Each player gets a limit of three punches. The player with a higher score wins.
