You have the varying sound of the engine and the car crash sound. The cars are simple block outlines that look like Formula 1 cars. You have a gear shifter for lo and hi gears, and you have to shift back into lo to get started again after a crash. The road is straight and its easy to keep the car on the road, Im not sure if its even possible to run off the road. As you rev the engine with the gas pedal and gear shifter, your car stays in the same vertical place on the screen but the road scrolls down faster and faster, giving you the illusion that your car is zooming along the road. If you go fast, you pass the other, computer controlled cars. In other words, they scroll down the screen at you. There are 5 or so lanes. You have to use the steering wheel to dodge the oncoming cars. After you get good, you can really whiz along and the cars are coming at you at a fast pace, you are jerking the steering wheel left and right, playing dodge ball with the cars. Way funIts difficult to find this game mentioned on the web. Partly because of the generic wheels name. There is also a two player version called Wheels II.
