Game Play

The game consists of five distinct stages. In the first stage, the player is required to free several red "meteors" from their confinement zones in the center of the screen by shooting each zone when it turns yellow. Once all of the meteors have been freed, you must dock with a sister-ship in the center of the confinement zone and then destroy the meteors (which have now acquired the ability to fire back at you). During this stage, the circular confinement zone confines your movements to an area about three to four inches in diameter. Once all the meteors have been destroyed, you must traverse the "Tunnel of Fear", destroying various enemies as you try to dock with another sister-ship. After a successful docking, you must bore your way through the Lazarian's body to free the Evil Eye and then, finally, destroy the Evil Eye itself. Once the Eye is destroyed, you move on to the next round.

One of the odd aspects of gameplay is that although your ship can theoretically fire in all four directions, your actual firepower is arbitrarily limited in different ways for each stage. During the first meteor stage, you fire quick-moving laser beams, but during the second meteor stage your weapons become slow-moving "bullets". One or more of your firing directions becomes temporarily unavailable at different points during the "Tunnel of Fear". In the fourth stage, you have all four directions back, but your firing range is limited to about one inch away from your ship, requiring you to get dangerously close to the Lazarian to destroy it. In stage five, you're back to slow-moving bullets.
