Based upon the line of toys and animated TV series of the same name, soldiers fight in a futuristic war against the army of an evil emperor. Unlike most army themed games, even trees and buildings can be destroyed if enough bullets are pumped into them. The game features a behind-the-character perspective that was typically only used in driving games.

Special missions strikeforce G.I. Joe fights the terrorist-organization Cobra to save the world from conquest. Players can choose to any one of the four members of the G.I. Joe team: Duke, Scarlet, Roadblock or Snake-Eyes. The Cobra boss enemies are Tomax and Xamot, Metalhead, The Baroness, Major Bludd, Destro and Cobra Commander.
