Description
Return to the dangers of space in this official sequel to the iconic Asteroids series. The familiar gameplay has been enhanced with power-ups, new rock types, challenges, achievements, 2 or 3-player multiplay, and more.
While it is a port of the console game of the same name, Alan-1 has drastically changed the game flow to fall more in line with the Atari arcade original. So much has changed that it could be considered a sequel to the console version as opposed to a simple port.
Changes include: The game has been divided into waves (256 total); there are selectable user difficulties that will jump to a certain wave; the UFOs behave more like the original ones; some power-ups behaviors have changed to make them more user-friendly; voice overs have been added; and it features integration from Alan-1's score/achievements tracking app called Major League eSports (MLeS).

Game Play
Asteroids will spawn from any space on the edge of the screen; you have a small spaceship that needs to survive by clearing out the rocks. When a large asteroid is hit, it splits into two medium-sized rocks; a hit on a medium results in a split to two smaller rocks. This version allows for simultaneous 2 or 3-player teamwork (depending on the model), splits the action into waves (up to 256), adds in challenges and achievements, and has eleven different power-ups.

Trivia
Released at the beginning of November 2024. It won 1st place in the 2024 IAAPA Brass Ring Award for Games & Devices.
The game first appeared at Amusement Expo 2024 in Las Vegas. It had only been in development for six weeks, after Alan-1 had secured a licensing deal to bring Atari's "Recharged" series of games to arcades.
Each cabinet is covered head-to-toe in artwork, created by an Argentinian comic book artist by the name of Alejandro Radio. There is also an official comic book for the game created by the same artist.

The mobile Major League eSports (MLeS) app is integrated into the game where it allows players to create free accounts where it tracks their scores on the game, informs them if another user beats their score, allows for users to continue on the last wave that they played, participate in weekly tournaments, earn League Points, and earn achievements.
