Allied Leisure’s Ace is a two-player simultaneous biplane dogfight game. The goal is to shoot down the other player while avoiding his shots. Each hit is counted on a scoreboard at the bottom of the playfield, whoever has the most points at the end of the time-based round wins. The cabinet is extremely well organized inside, with the power supply, audio, main PCB, and monitor sections labeled and physically separated in an easy-to-access way. The monitor is an XM-701-10A. The blue gel overlay is applied to the back of the bezel, rather than the monitor itself. Each player controls two, 2-way (up-down) flight sticks with the rightmost stick including the fire button on top. The leftmost stick controls acceleration/deceleration, and the rightmost stick controls rotational direction. Both actuate microswitches, although the button is a leaf switch. The game starts as soon as the specified number of credits are deposited (usually 50 cents). There are multiple revisions of the main PCB, one has jumpers for time adjustment, one has a potentiometer for the same purpose.
Ace is a two-player simultaneous biplane dogfight game. Player one stands at the left set of controls and maneuvers a black plane. Player two stands at the right set of controls and maneuvers a white plane. The goal is to shoot the other player while dodging his shots and the side barriers. A scoreboard at the bottom of the screen keeps track of points. 1 point is awarded to the opposing player if you crash into the barriers, ground, or scoreboard, 2 points if they shoot you, and 1 point if you both crash into each other. These points are stackable, which means that shooting the opposing player and then crashing into their paratrooper results in 3 points for you and 1 point for them. If your plane is destroyed, then you become a paratrooper that falls to the ground (no control at this point). As soon as the paratrooper reaches a solid object, your plane is respawned on the ground on your side of the screen. Each game is time-based, so whoever has the most points at the end wins.

You can shoot the other player’s paratrooper in addition to their plane.
No side art, just wood grain vinyl. The primary artwork on the cabinet is the bezel/marquee which includes the colors magenta, white, black, and teal. There are flasher bulbs behind the letters “ACE” and the blue gel is applied to the back of the bezel.

Note that the brightness is left high on this game, making the background white. If the brightness is turned down to make the background dark, the Player 1 biplane will disappear (visually).
