Lite-a-Line is "the world’s most fascinating individual skill game" or at least that is the description once displayed on the wall of "Loff's Lite-a-Line." The game itself is very much like Bingo or Connect four (the board game with vertical playing field) only it consists of 5 numbers each way.
You are given the red 3 in the middle so on the display board over each game the 3 number light is already lit. As you play by shooting the ball up above the holes.
Above the holes are a line of bumpers similar to what you find in a pinball game so the game can appear somewhat reckless. The ball wildly bumps around with its final destination really unknown most of the time. There are several places where it can slip through all the bumpers and there are also places where it can roll between all the holes resulting in no additional lights being lit on the shot. It is played until someone lights up 5 in a row in any straight line direction.
When someone wins, the winnings are paid in the form of free plays which can later be exchanged back into dollars so it has a gambling type edge to it and is the only legal form of any gambling type game within the city. Sometimes there are multiple winners and they have to share the pot. Every couple of hours in the evening they have different games called jackpots. Some require you to have a perfect score which is only the numbers lit that make the 5 in a row line lit. Other jackpot games are for any winner but are usually much smaller.
