In Firefox, you must shoot all objects on the screen. When a level begins, radar detectors (concentric, expanding red circles) will appear. If you can shoot all of them in a level before they reach their widest point, you will be undetected and gain a massive bonus. If you are detected, planes will begin shooting at you, and you must shoot down the incoming missiles. To reset your detection status, you must change elevation at the end of the level.
If you are flying in the sky, you will have increased fuel efficiency, at the cost of quicker detection. On the ground, the reverse is true.
At the end of each grouping of missions (when you refuel) the amount of fuel you receive is dependent on the number of explosions you have created in that mission set. Explosions can be earned from destroying enemy aircraft, secret bases, or the missile cruiser.

This game was based on the Clint Eastwood movie of the same title.
Atari intended to release a conversion kit for Firefox based on Battlestar Galactica, but it never saw release.
If the laserdisc player fails to sync to the disc, but does spin up, the problem is usually the magnets which aim the mirrors inside the player. These magnets can be reattached with epoxy to repair the player, but it is an involved and difficult repair.
Firefox games shipped with a specially designed raster monitor by Amplifone (Atari). These monitors had poor quality flybacks which were prone to failure. While there are no replacements available for these flybacks, a K7000 flyback can be substituted with some minor deflection board modifications.

Both the upright and the cockpit versions have stereo headphone jacks and volume control knobs. The upright jack/knob is located below the control yoke and the cockpit jack/knob was under the control yoke as well, but it is hard to spot unless you bend down for a better look. And audio cassette recorder can be connected to the jack to record the game sounds with almost perfect quality.
