While New Challengers Cammy, Fei Long, and T. Hawk were created by Japanese employees at Capcom, the Jamaican kickboxer DeeJay was created by James Goddard of Capcom USA.
The entire cabinet is a geographical earth. The top of the montitor bezel reads: SUPER STREET FIGHTER II: THE NEW CHALLENGERS HAS Smoother animation, and new and improved backgrounds, and sounds. Four new player characters introducing T. Hawk, Cammy, Fei Long, and Dee Jay. Has different colors when you push one of the buttons.
This was the first game made for the CP System II. It consists of a CPU/main board (also called the "A" board) and a game/ROM board (also called a "B" board). There are four different colored versions for use in different regions.

The extra buttons are connected directly to the A board (CPU/main board) via a special connector. This connector consists of two rows of 17 pins numbered 1 through 34 (odd numbers on top, even numbers on the bottom). Pins 33 and 34 are GND. The player one kick buttons (four through six) are located on pins 19, 17, and 15 and the player two kick buttons connect to 21, 23, and 9.
