Description

Dr. Robotnik's next shot at world domination comes in the form of his new island base, Eggman Island. When Sonic, Ray, and Mighty drop in uninvited, Robotnik catches them by surprise with a huge machine. After finding themselves imprisoned in a tower, the trio break free onto the island, and decide that some major property damage must be done.

Game Play

The game play is somewhat similar to Marble Madness. Use the trackball to navigate through the six levels of Dr. Robotnik's fortress while avoiding the countless traps he has set for you. You can attack the enemies by jumping on them, but usualy the best strategy is to avoid them and keep running.

Trivia

Sonic Arcade marked the first appearance of the characters Ray and Mighty. Ray has not appeared in any sequels thus far, but in the game IKnuckles ChaotixI for the Mega32X, Mighty the Armadillo appears as a selectable character along with another character called Knuckles.

Miscellaneous

One of the many Sonic games made by Sega. However, this is the only Sonic arcade game with the excpeton of ISonic FightersI, and it was never released on any console system.

Technical

This game uses a Sega System 32 motherboard. Trackballs interface through a 26pin connecter on a threeinch square riser card to the right of the JAMMA harness. The setup menu allows the operator to configure it for a two or threeplayer cabinet.
