To fight Jade, use only the Low Kick button on all matches before the "?" square.

Trivia

This game was the first Midway release to use the DCS Sound System.

Kintaro was originally intended to be a humanoid tiger, similar to the creature in Japanese mythology. This idea was scrapped, however, due to the fact that creating the costume would not have been feasable. However, thanks to this original idea, the Shokan we know as Kintaro has the tiger stripes on his back.

John Tobias once said that the friendships were created as a parody of the bad opinions that many expressed about the fatality concept.

Many players claimed to have seen Sub-Zero morph into a polar bear in Mortal Kombat II. This may have been the origin of animalities used in Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

In the bookkeeping screens for Mortal Kombat II, a line reads "Kano Transformations". One can only wonder what significance this has, but apparently it holds some in Mortal Kombat 3. Sometimes, when Nightwolf's friendship is done, he says, "I have never seen a Kano transformation" when he morphs into Raiden.

Cabinet Information

The side art shows a close-up shot of Raiden in front of a dark blue, lightning filled background.

Conversion

A software "upgrade" exists that was sold to operators after Mortal Kombat II was released. Known as the Immortal Kombat upgrade, this simple EEPROM swap switches the order that opponents are fought fighting the bosses and sometimes the secret characters first rather than later and makes the game's software adjustable difficulty settings non-existant as the only setting now is hard. It also gives you unlimited Fatality time and allows you to play the hidden Pong game much more frequently during two-player fights.

Miscellaneous

In some early versions of the game, Mileena and Kitanas screams were not finished so if you did kung laos hat slice fatality F F F LK to one of them, they would have one of the males screams.
