Bomber is a side-scrolling game. You control a (relatively) large bomber plane, and you drop bombs on moving targets - these include a scrolling pattern of basic structures, such as square "warehouses" and the like. You have to hit structures that look like water towers (marked "OIL") or else your plane will slowly descend into the structures and you will crash, losing one of your planes.
At the same time, smaller fighter jets will scroll across the screen in the opposite direction, and you have to shoot them. As you progress in the game, your bomber will move across the screen, until the nose touches the edge, making it considerably harder to hit oncoming fighters since you can't see them.

The control panel consists of a joystick shaped so that the fingers can grip it, and a red button on top for the bomber's front guns. Buttons on either side are for dropping bombs.
